JAG and USDA Illuminate Civil Rights in National Parks

Updated: Mar 7

We're excited to announce that JAG has partnered with the U.S. Department of Agriculture to create a civil rights program for Junior Rangers and park visitors across the country. This partnership underscores our commitment to fostering powerful educational programs that teach young people lessons in compassion, inclusivity and fairness.

The JAG team is creating interactive lessons and other educational materials to help children learn about the role that our national parks played in the Civil Rights Movement, shedding light on important symbols of freedom and resilience.

This initiative offers a unique opportunity to explore the rich history of the Civil Rights Movement within the context of our cherished national parks. These landscapes help memorialize the push for change during one of the most transformative periods in American history. By honoring the struggles and triumphs of those who fought for justice and equality, we aim to inspire a new generation of environmental stewards committed to preserving our shared heritage.
